Each round shows a heavily blurred movie poster that sharpens over a few seconds. Chat races to type the title — the first correct guess wins the round and ends it. Play a set of rounds; the most titles named takes the crown.

Gameplay

1

Watch the poster sharpen

A blurred poster appears and eases toward clear. The earlier you recognise it, the more of a jump you get on the room.
2

Type the title

Just type the film’s name in chat — no command. Common variants and subtitles are accepted, so you don’t have to match punctuation exactly.
3

First correct wins the round

The first correct guess ends the round and banks a point. The host then advances to the next poster, or reveals to move on if nobody gets it.
Late joiners are welcome between rounds — there’s no elimination, so a viewer arriving mid-set just starts scoring from the next round.

How the reveal works

The round is a race against the blur: the poster starts unreadable and sharpens toward clear, so recognising it early is the whole skill.

  • Earlier is better. There’s no per-step scoring, but the first correct guess ends the round — so reading the poster while it’s still fuzzy is how you beat the room.
  • Forgiving matching. The title is checked loosely: common alternate titles and subtitles count, and case and punctuation don’t matter.
  • The answer stays hidden. The title isn’t in the live data until the round ends, so it can’t leak early.

Configuration

Round lengthseconds the poster takes to sharpen15s
Fast-forward gifta gift that skips seconds of the revealOff until set
Round length. How long a poster takes to ease from full blur to clear. A shorter round makes each poster a tighter reaction test. Fast-forward gift. Optional — off until the host configures it. When set, sending the gift skips seconds off the sharpening curve for the whole room (see Gifts).

Layout

Labeled layout of the Guess the Movie play surface
  1. Marquee — game title and how-to hint.
  2. Round + gift strip — round number, and the fast-forward gift when configured.
  3. Poster — the blurred poster, sharpening over the round.
  4. Leaderboard — players ranked by titles named.
  5. Guess pill — the live count of guesses this round.
The game moves through Lobby → Round → Revealed → Finished.

Gifts

Guess the Movie’s gift is a cooperative fast-forward — it sharpens the poster faster for everyone, and never picks a winner. It’s off unless the host sets it.
A reveal timeline with a marker pushed forward, and a cost-ordered ladder of gifts skipping seconds
  • Each configured gift skips seconds off the poster’s sharpening, jumping the reveal forward for the whole room.
  • Bigger gifts skip more — a typical ladder is Rose 3s, Heart 3s, Galaxy 8s, Lion 20s.
  • It only speeds up the reveal; the round is still won by the first correct guess.

Scoring

  • Each round won adds one to your per-streamer win count (which drives avatar ring tiers).
  • The most titles named across the set wins; ties are shipped as co-winners.
  • Wins are tracked per streamer.
