# Compound

> Bridge two words with one — CAMP → FIRE → PLACE

<Info>**Category:** Word · **Players:** free-for-all · **Status:** Beta</Info>

<Note>Compound is in beta — details may change.</Note>

A fast word-bridge race. Each round shows a **left** and a **right** anchor
word, and chat races to type the one word that bridges them into two compound
words — `CAMP → FIRE → PLACE` gives **campfire** and **fireplace**. The first
chatter to type the bridge claims the round; rounds run on a short timer, so
it's pure speed. Most solves across the session wins.

## Gameplay

<Steps>
  <Step title="Read the anchors">
    A word on the left and a word on the right. Find the word that joins with
    both.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Type the bridge">
    No command — type the bridge word. It has to form a real compound with the
    left anchor *and* the right one.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Beat the clock">
    First correct answer takes the round; if nobody gets it before the timer,
    the round reveals and moves on.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How the bridge works

The answer sits in the middle: it compounds with the word before it and the word
after it.

* **Two anchors, one bridge.** The bridge has to make a compound with the left
  anchor and a compound with the right anchor.
* **Exact word.** Only the intended bridge word counts — near-misses don't
  score.
* **First correct wins the round.** The first chatter to type it claims the
  round; everyone else moves on to the next one.

## Configuration

| Option          | Values | Default |
| --------------- | ------ | ------- |
| **Round timer** | 10–60s | 25s     |

**Round timer.** How long each bridge stays open before it reveals and advances.
The host can also reveal early to unstick a round.

1. **Marquee** — game title and how-to hint.
2. **Round + timer strip** — round number and the countdown.
3. **Bridge** — the two anchors with the answer slot between them.
4. **Leaderboard** — players ranked by rounds solved.

The game moves through **Lobby → Round → Revealed → Finished**.

## Gifts

Compound has no gift mechanic — every round is a straight first-to-type race, so
there's nothing to send. Gifts still reach the streamer as normal; they just
don't change the game.

## Scoring

* The first correct bridge scores the round for its solver.
* The session winner is whoever solved the most rounds; ties are shipped as
  co-winners.
* Points feed the per-streamer tally behind
  [avatar ring tiers](/games/leaderboards). Wins are tracked per streamer.
